WOO New Blog~ ^^

Hello everyone <3

I've decided to start up a blog because I realized there are so many small things that I don't make videos about but that I'd love to share with you guys. I thought here would be a good place to do that :)

It's been a crazy busy Summer, been working a lot, got in a car accident (yikes!), went to Korea for a few weeks, and now I'm back in Japan and getting ready to move tomorrow.

I sure move a lot. I decided I wanted a cheaper place since the place I'm in now is a little more room than what I really need. I'm not home much anyways, so I figure I might as well save some money with a smaller place!

The new place is only 30,000 yen a month including internet!! That's insaaaane. My old place was 50,000. It is smaller, and the kitchen area is connected with the bedroom which is kind of lame, but on the other hand the bedroom is the only room I keep cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter so it'll be nice to have the kitchen area temperature controlled too now ^^

I'll be making a room tour video right away once I get set up, since that will probably be the only time you will ever see my room in a clean enough state! ^^;

Here are a couple random pictures from Korea

           Hangang River! So gorgeous.
 Mmm kimbap.
                     This was at a cozy cafe in Seoul. They are sweet chewy desserts made from rice :)

Anyways, thanks for visiting and check back for more posts soon! <3

    3. Try getting a place for 30,000 yen anywhere in Vancouver. Not a bloody chance! You would pay that just in strata and utilities alone. Sharla, they imposed a 15% tax to foreign buyers in our country now. I am hoping that the prices will correct so that it would be possible to buy in. Isn't it amazing that Japanese homes are CHEAP? I notice that in Japan, apartments cost more than homes unlike Vancouver where it is the reverse. Is this because we are allowed to buy apartments as gaijin but not detached homes as this is the case in Thailand?

  2. Be safe, enjoy your new flat, keep up the hard work, keep smiling and keep sharing all those beautiful moments/things/places/tastes from all over the places you visit!!! I have always loved Japan, and you, alongside with Micaela and Mimei, made me LOVE this country even MORE!! I figured out what a friend told me a few years ago; Canadians are just wonderful people! And you prove this :-)

  3. Welcome back! Although I know it is midsummer and many people are staying away from school/office, YouTube that doesn't have your video updates has been uncool (to me at least). (I am aware of your recent updates.) Now one can read your "updates" more often (hopefully) here. In short, I am happy that you have opened a blog!

  5. 30Kyen/month is indeed insane. I wonder how you found such a bargain... BTW I like those puffy "cocoons" in the third picture. I'll throw them into my mouth while strolling on the Seoul street.

  10. Hi Sharla, I recently found your youtube channel and I loved it. I'm a fellow Canadian not much older than you and I always had a similar interest in Japan but never went over(other stuff in life kept getting in the way) so it's interesting to see your experiences.

    Hope you're able to continue making vids and blogging for some time, you got yourself another fan. Cheers and good luck!

  11. http://www.realestate.co.jp/en/ provides a current list of "some" furnished guest houses & rentals (apartments and mansions, too). They are fairly inexpensive (wireless internet included in many rentals I saw today). If the photos show no mattresses on the beds, ask the manager if they are included.

  21. Real estate in Japan is really cheap. There are tons of homes on sale for less than $100,000 dollars. Now, in Vancouver, that isn't even a down payment. You will notice that apartments cost more in Japan than many detached homes. I found this to be ironic at first. But what I did find is that some apartments allow up to 20% of foreigners to buy. (I guess you are not buying the land, but the structure, and since the land is bought by the property management company or whatever, it becomes a loophole that enables foreign ownership. Thailand and Philippines has something similar to this. But if you want to lease a detached home very cheaply, you can. You can buy a detached home without buying the property and you pay a small rental fee to the owner each month. Some rents go as low as 15,000 yen a month. Japanese people are not stupid enough to just let a bunch of Chinese people to come in and buy up their entire country. They know that if they opened it up like Canada, they would be in a big world of hurt.
